MANDIBLE:The lower jaw. 
CONDYLE: The “ball” end of the mandible. 
DISC:  A cartilaginous pad that acts as a cushion between the condyle and the socket that it fits into. 

MUSCLES: There are numerous closing muscles that “power” the TMJ. The two illustrated here are the two most   frequently involved in soreness / pain.
